Designing and Decorating Ideas for Reclaimed Redwood

Reclaimed redwood -The Lumber Baron

Reclaimed redwood is popular for both construction and decorating. Because of the unique qualities of the material, it is easy to work yet durable enough to last a lifetime. To give you some ideas of projects to make from reclaimed redwood, The Lumber Baron has put together some of our favorite design and decoration ideas.

Reclaimed Redwood Pergola

Building a pergola from reclaimed redwood gives you the option of making it look old from the outset. The patina of naturally aged redwood gives the finished product a rustic, weathered look that stands out against surrounding greenery. And because old-growth redwood is more dense and durable, you won’t have problems associated with new lumber such as warping or nails pulling out of joints.

Decorative Reclaimed Redwood Beams

Reclaimed redwood can be used as-is or resurfaced at The Lumber Baron’s on-site mill. This allows you to create magnificent decorative beams with either a rough natural look or a smoothly refined finish. Which option you settle on depends on the other decor in the room and your own personal preferences.

Reclaimed Redwood Bookcases

Reclaimed redwood is sturdy enough to handle even the most extensive collection of books. For something out of the ordinary, build your bookcase directly into a wall so that only a couple of inches of the bookshelf remain outside of the wall surface. For accent, create a pair of reclaimed redwood bookends from the same material and place them on your mantle piece.

Custom Bed Frame

Reclaimed redwood is perfect for building the bed of your dreams. Instead of empty space below the bed, fill that area with drawers that conserve space and provide you with handy storage for linens. If you really want to go all out, redwood beams can be milled into bed posts or go all-out and build a complete canopy that can be hung with lacy curtains. We know that there are hundreds of other ideas for home design and decoration, but The Lumber Baron hopes the ideas presented here give you some great things to work on and hopefully encourage some new design ideas of your own.
